Sunday, June 23, 1pm - 6pm at Rowan Street Park

Sun & the Moon Productions is pleased to present "Midsummer Sun Arts Festival 2002" to be held at Rowan Park on Sunday, June 23rd, 2002 from 12pm until 5pm.  This festival is FREE and open to all works depicting and/or relating to the themes of myth and magic.

Sun & the Moon Productions adopted Rowan Park through the Fayetteville Adopt-A-Site Program in April 2001, and led Fayetteville's celebration of WorldWide Earth Day 2001.  It is our goal with this festival to also draw attention to this beautiful park, and in doing so, encourage others in the community to take part in civic stewardship and pride through beautification projects.  Azaleas will be available for purchase the day to the event to be planted on the hillside (with supervision).

Sun & the Moon Arts Festivals are events open to art of all modalities: visual, performance, poetic/linguistic, musical and dance.  These gatherings serve to be common ground for artists and artist-friendly businesses and hope to sponsor stewardship.  This festival will continue the tradition of artistic excellence that was begun with the first festival in 1998.

All local performers will be offering their services free of charge for this event to beautify Rowan Park.  Featured artists (weather permitting) will bring in visual artwork.  Bowties Nightclub, located in the Holiday Inn-Bordeaux, a longtime sponsor and advocate of Sun & the Moon, will donate $1 from each Saturday night cover charge during the month of June towards a "special upgrade" that the Parks and Recreation Department deems valuable to this park.  Some project ideas include painting the amphitheater, adding a round brick gallery, improving the trash collection and improving awareness of the Litter Campaign, encouraging cleanliness of our park sites and community.

Sun & the Moon Productions seeks to present this festival year after year, upgrading and improving other park sites.  Together, what a difference we can make!
