The Music Of Kerstin Hanson
Bio

~ Melody & Rhyme, Stories & Time ~

From classical voice to wild gigs, my training has been varied. What you learn in a controlled environment seems to get modified in a club environment (grin). I've shared a stage with Johnny Mann - he was the emcee - The Wild Horses Band - Paddy Gibney - and most recently was the other half of the "Folk You Harder" duo with Shannon Campbell. Each of my associations has somewhat shaped my influences and technique, though I like to believe that I still have it in me to be unique in what I do as a soloist. In the first six months of 2001 I did over 75 live shows in the sandhills area of NC, and currently am hiding out while I write and record my latest project.

* Indiegrrl Performing Member
* Winner (with Shannon Campbell) of the 2001 Cape Fear Folk Festival Songwriting Competition

As a songwriter, my stories, tales, and melodies are borne of daily experiences as well as fantasies and imagination. A range of emotional and intellectual responses to matters of the heart, whether love or loss, desire or rejection, and a host of other influences find their way into my songs. I sometimes wish that a song could end like a good Hollywood script with everything tied up neatly, but life isn't always that way, as we all know....
